Default Windshield & Warrenties

In reviewing the warrenty on my 2008 SuperCrew I noted that they will replace windshields with stress cracks for 12 months or 12,000 miles. My truck has 3,300 miles and the windshield has cracked. There was no rock impact and no chips or evidence of any impact. Crack starts below the dash in the middle of the windshield, goes up about 2 to 3 inches, turns to the pasenger side, travels about 18 to 24 inches then turns down and goes below the dash line. I have not yet discussed this with the Ford dealership nor my insurance company. Now, finally, the real question. In PA my insurance will pay to have a local windshield place replace the windshield. I assume Ford would replace it either by sending it to a windshield place or in-house. Would I be better off having Ford do it or having the insurance company do it? In other words, do I trust the Ford dealership to do it right or s local windshield place? Yeah, I know it isn't a momentous decision and most likely the odds of getting a crappy or a good job is about the same either way. But which would YOU choose?

i would go with the dealership. if its covered on the warranty do it. that way they dont have any excuses later. also insurance companies are real quick to take your money but kinda lag when they have to dish it out. atleast with the dealership you could get a rental

I'll tell you a little secret. The dealer is going to call a glass shop to install it. The warranty will be covered.
