This clamshell style OTC 6494. Don't want to spend $700 for a wall mounted model but shops here want over $100 for changing the springs and this tool is more than half way there. Has anyone used it before?

Already bought the new shocks and springs and if I can get the tool for $175 I don't want to spend $100 for somebody else to do it. Just want to make sure that tool works on this vehicle.

Personally I wouldn't use it.

Too many points of failure in critical areas, the main one that makes me ask WTF is the spring hooks being welded onto the flat stock that makes up the clamp.

I'd pay someone the $100 and avoid a trip to the ER. There is a huge amount of force involved when compressing those springs.
