All they have to state is that they are providing the code definition as stated by the manufacturer, and not suggesting what part or parts to buy. Similar with the engine diagnostic codes.

This is spot on... The short time I worked for AAP, we had to read the customer the disclaimer printed on their code readout. Did they listen? Of course not! "Man this TPS you sold me didn't fix the problem..."
