Default Whining and grinding

So I've been hearing this whining-grinding noise from under the hood when it starts up cold and the colder it is the louder it's gets but it only lasts for about 1-2 minutes and goes away until it has cooled down and you start it back you then the noise comes back. It's been getting louder and louder and I afraid it's going to fail on me here soon. Any advise is greatly appreciated! Thank you.

If it's 4x4 start the truck and listen at the wheels probably the IWES, IWE Soleonoid or one of the systems Vacum components. If you have elimnated that from the equation you have to pinpoint which side it's coming from. Could be anything from starter a bad pulley.

I don't have a 4X4 and to be honest I don't know what the IWES is. It's not from the pulley for sure and the starter wouldn't be it, would it? Cause it just keeps going even after its started. And it sounds like its coming from the driver side.

Could be water pump bearings. I had similar noises before in other trucks Nd that's what it was

Wel no 4x4 so don't even get concerned with the IWE syste. 5.4 or 4.6 mtor? and I will show some of my on ignorance with this but a bad Idle Air Control will cause a noise like a bearing going out more of a growl not grind, can be pretty loud to. It opens more as the truck warms up but in all honesty I have not had that problem on a 3 valve motor dont think they have the IAC so I am not sure if Idle is controlled the same way. I thik the 4.6 does if you have a 4.6 motor.

I do indeed have the 4.6 so you think it could be the IAC? Where is that? Have you had any problems with your master cylinder? Could it be that?
