Question Where should I put the wires????

I just order a roof light bar. I'm putting 5 lights on top and when i get around to installing it i really really REALLLYY dont want to drill through my cab. So far the only way i've seen to do it any other way is by running the wires down the door jam. Anyone done anything like this? or does any one have ideas? hopefully some one might be able to tell me how they did it withought drilling?

and you can expect to see some pics up once im done.

Drill those holes...don't be scared (although I would be) As long as you have the correct grommets, you should be fine. It'll make for a better looking install in the end. Worse case scenario is you patch what you screw up...it's on the roof, nobody will see it! Good Luck!

Instead of drilling holes in the roof try removing the third brake light and run the wires into the cab that way. Once you remove the light there is lots of room and on the backside of the light is your roof liner. This is how I ran my cb antenna coax.

What type of light bar did you get? Going thru the third brake light is a good way to go.

That's the best choice to go, the third brake light. Just take it off, run the wires into the headliner inside of the truck, and use a dremel to carve a small half circle out of the housing for the wires. Then once you're all done getting the wires inside, use 3M's weather strip stuff. It's in a black tube and is like silicon... works wonders. That's how I do our entire fleet of construction trucks that use roof mounted lights.

For the record... I personally always recommend interior lights. They are easier, no exterior-to-interior hole risks, no worries. That's just me tho.

I did the 5 cab lights across the top of my truck. It hurt to drill holes in the roof but hey, a little silicone never hurt! I've seen it rain about 50 times now, plus snow ontop the roof melting several times, and I've yet to see a drop of rain inside my truck or staining the headliner! If you want a clean look without running the wires ontop the roof to the 3rd brake light, this is definitely the way to go. I will post a pic of my lights soon.
