It goes between the VCT solenoid valve body and the cylinder head. there should be two.

I had the head off the block but didn't take anything apart on the head itself just valve cover an t chain. Would I have seen it just doing that or do I need to go deeper in the head

It is behind the VCT housing that your VCT solenoid sits down into. Unless you specifically removed it from the head you wouldn't have noticed it.

Yep, one bolts to the front of each head.

No probably not. You'd have to specifically remove the valve body off the front of the head (the part that the solenoid bolts into).

Ok I think it might have a piece of piston in it I cleaned the head but didn't take that off. I'm throwing codes for cam shaft sensor and I put a new one on along with a vct and I'm still having trouble. Timing is good I checked it like 10 times. I'm starting to get frustrated
