What's this?
Does anyone know what fhis plug is for? Sitting in my truck, it is to the left of the cigarette lighter. But there is nothing on the front side next to the lighter. I am going to install an aftermarket power window conversion kit and want to mount the switches on either side of the lighter instead of cutting holes in my door panels. Also, where would be a good place to spice in the power wire for the kit? Thanks.

It's for options your truck doesn't have.
Take the power from the cigarette lighter. It's got plenty of amperage available, assuming you're a non-smoker (or use regular lighters).

2 of the main options for that panel are lighter, and back up alarm on/off switch. I don't know what the 3rd one is for. Maybe traction control? My truck has the 2 I know if on the left and right. The center plug was not used so I drilled it out and put a usb connection to my radio in there.

Heated seat controls, I think.

Possibly I have heated seats but the buttons are on the electronic HVAC controls. Might be different if you have manual HVAC but with heated seats?

Hmm, maybe... I don't remember what my buttons are for on the HVAC system.

Either way, we agree that the plug is for options not realized, as every truck has the same wiring harness regardless of options. This plug may have gotten stuck there during manufacturing either as a way to hold that panel while it was being installed, or to keep it from rattling around the inside of the console while driving.
