Truck recently began making this noise. Is it what I think it is?

I guess it all depends on what you think it is......
So far nobody knows what the issue is. You're not saying and I can't make the file open. Why not just articulate the situation in writing?

 

 

Does it slap when you stop accelerating? That doesn't sound too bad to me.

 

Sounds to me like it could very well be the dreaded cam phaser / VCT issues the 3 valve modular engines are notorious for. Usually the early signs would be the truck starts and runs fine at cold start without the noise being very noticeable if at all. Then once the truck gets up to operating temperature and you hit a low RPM situation like a stop light, the tapping / knocking type of noise becomes much more pronounced when the oil pressure drops. Then as the issues progress they will usually begin having issues with the check engine light coming on and DTCs for things like timing over advance for example if the phasers / VCT systems are not functioning properly.
