What to do
I bought my truck form koons ford of baltimore about a month ago. Last week before leaving to go to deep creek i did a complete look around the truck and found there to be a screw in my drivers rear tire. So i took the truck to walmart to get it plugged and they took the tire off and said they were not allowed to fix the tire because the tire was scallaped. I took at look at the tire and sure enough it was all out of round on the inside. All the tires are like that. So i took the truck to my buddy that does maryland state inspections and he said the tires should have never been sold on that truck in that condition. So i called ford and explained to them the situation and they said "well our mechanics do the maryland state inspection here and if they said things should pass then they do". Mind you the truck that 30,000 miles on it when i bought it and not it has 36,000 miles. So my question is what do i do? The truck in an 06 lariat 4x4 with 18s. Help me please.
It's going to be tough and a long shot to get the dealer to cover this. Be polite, and hope for the best. At the very least, I'd expect them to offer the tires at cost, with free mounting and balance.
I agree though that the truck should have never been sold with those tires.

It wouldnt hurt to address it with the dealer service manager but I can tell you that they probably wont cover it because tire issues are covered by the tire manufacturer and not the dealer. This is something you shouldve noticed and taken care of BEFORE you bought it. They wouldve most likely put new tires on it when you bought it. The tire warranty is probably good for about 55000 miles and its prorated so with 30000 on them, even if you get someone to warranty them, will only be about 30-40% of the new value of the tires. Now if you had paid the dealership for an alignment, then I would take it back in and have them double check the alignment numbers. If the alignment is out, you have a better chance at having them cover it.
As for the screw in the tire, just buy a plug kit and do it yourself. Its not a bad idea to carry a plug kit in your truck with you anyway.

all 4 tires are scalloped? something sounds fishy, tires don't scallop overnight. sounds to me that they rotated the tires, the truck must have a bad alignment or worn components. IF your lucky they will give the tires to you at cost, but i wouldn't hold my breath for a fresh set. if you still got the window sticker with the check off on it, try to use that be like "well i just bought this and no way can this be my fault, now how are we gonna fix this?" they don't have to do anything, when buying a used truck you gotta look over stuff with a fine tooth comb and bring another set of eyes, can never be too **** about looking over a used truck.
