What about removing the baffle if you do the Gotts Mod. Is it recommended?

Doesn't add any power removing the silencers/baffles on the side, just gives the intake a different tone. IMO it just gives more spaces for contaminates to enter if not sealed up all the way.

My mpg went up .5 mpg over 5,000 miles after I installed the CAI and the Superchips CAI....same drive everyday, same speeds...so there is some mpg benefit to be gained too...not nearly enough to justify the cost of the CAI, but it is something since you already have it coming...

just my two cents...if you are worried about dirty oil, change it more often

I think yoda is referring to my silicon comments in the oil due to inferior air filters. The problem is it's a waste of perfectly good oil if you're changing due to having a poor air filter and would have to change it quite often. Higher silicon numbers lead to more wear, and can accumulate quickly while the oil still has plenty of TBN left. Doing a shortened OCI for a couple horse gain at WOT vs. buying a good air filter doesn't make long term sense to me.

I don't worry or guess about how "dirty" my oil because of UOA.
