So in an earlier post I stated that my odometer light wouldn't come on. I decided to go ahead and change the bulb.

I tried out the odometer light... turned my key into the on position and turned on the headlights. Weird thing is, the odometer lights up when the headlight **** is in the off position, and then turns off when I turn the headlights in the on position.

What could be causing this? I didn't disconnect any wiring or anything. All I did was put a new bulb in.

Sounds like the problem is the switch

 

Double check that bulb you put in, it may be the wrong one. If thats the correct one then like Saromero said the problem maybe in the headlight switch.

Hopefully someone else has run across this and can shed some light on it.
