Default Water temp gauge

Looking into adding a water temp, Oil pressure and trans temp gauge in my 04 f150 5.4. I found where to put the sensors for oil pressure and trans temp. For the guys who have water temp where did you put the sensor. I have done alot of searching and havent come up with much

Or you could just do it the easy way and get a scanguage. That will tell you your water temp and your CHT along with a lot of other options.

Easiest is just to buy a used Tuner like an Evo and set the displays for gauge readings. I have: Engine Temp, Trans Temp, Avg MPG, and RPM readouts set on mine (I don't run a tune, I use it just for gauges).

I spliced in a Glowshift adapter in the upper radiator hose. I had to rig a ground because I'm running an electric gauge, but I'm happy with it. I have an Edge Evo, but I wanted to measure actual water temp instead of interpolated data. Probably not necessary, but at least I know when the T-stat opens😜

I use ODB Fusion

https://www.obdsoftware.net/software/obdfusion

With a Veepeak Bluetooth Adapter

Its 32 bucks for the hardware, plus the app (don't remember on it) plus each year/model combo costs $10 in the app. So Ford 2006 for me was $10 for the enhanced data codes.

For Android search Torque Pro or something like that, it supposed to be super.

For a PC Forscan, link at the top of the forums. It lets you program PCM.

For a permanent gauge mount in your vehicle, one of the Tuners is probably what your looking for.

There are an enormous number of sensors already built into these engines. Those are the sensors the PCM is using to make adjustments to your timing, shift points etc so they are what I would use.

So the question no is are those tuners getting accurate reading since the info is the same stuff being sent to the stock bs gauges

Are you adding the gauge because you don't feel the one on the instrument cluster is accurate?

In adding gauges because the factory ones are junk. Your either good or your not. You can tell alot more with a good set of quality gauges.

Is any measuring device actually accurate? I can see when the thermostat opens and closes quite nicely with the Edge...

Honestly probably not completely but still a ton better than the for idiot gauges in the dash. You would be suprised how much of a fluctuation you can have and stock gauges say everything is good. Being able to see those fluctuations can give you a hint of a problem that might be fixed pretty easy as oppsed to a more expensive repair.
