Default Warn Hidden Winch

I'm looking at getting the Warn Hidden Winch Mount but it comes with a 9000 short drum winch. I have three problems with this winch however. 1) 9000 pounds seems a little light to me for an f150 which weighs ~6800 IIRC. 2) The short drum only holds 50'. 3) The price is outrageous. So here are my questions. Do ya'll think the 9000 will be fine? Does anyone know if the VR10000 will fit? Are there any other winches that will if the VR won't? And finally, what other options do I have besides the hidden mount or a brush guard?

I read in a couple popular off road mags that the winch should be at leAst 1.5 times the weight of the vehicle. Which in your case Would be 10,200 pounds so I'd probably go with at least the 10,000 lb winch. As far as mounting it goes I have no idea as I dont have a winch. Wish I did but still in the wish list haha

I would go with 10,000+, also I don't know what year you have, but the hidden winch only fits the 2004 and 2005's because they changed the bumpers after that. Sure you truck weighs that much? Mines a 4x4 super crew lariat with 33's and I'm only about 5800-5900

You should definitely go with a winch 1.5 times the weight of your truck, you should be able to look on your title to see the weight of your vehicle. When you decide on which Warn winch you want check out warnfactoryoutlet. Make sure to add it to the cart to get a better price. Generally if you call us up we will give you an even better price then we can show online. Also if you find it cheaper anywhere else we will beat our competitors price by 5%!
