Default Vibration

Hey guys I have a 2004 f 150 4x4 supercrew 5.4. When I take off from a stop the rear end starts vibrating. It doesn't vibrate very long. Just till I reach a certain speed around like 10 mph or so. And it seems to do it worse when I am turning. Curious as to if you guys have or have had the same problem and what I should check or try doing to fix it.

Thanks guys,

Dalton

Does it do it at any higher speeds or only slow? Sometimes the park brake cable holds the brakes on slightly and it'll do that.

I had the same problem, did a search here and found that the clutch plates in the rear differential can start slipping, I went to the Ford dealership and bought some friction modifier and put that in, problem solved, sometimes it'll take changing the oil in the differential and putting the modifier in, if this doesn't work it's time for a rebuild.

It only does it when I take off from a stop. Well tomorrow I will go get some of that modifier and try that. Hopefully it works. Thanks

While you're at it, you might as well drain the fluid in the diffs and do a complete change. Don't know when the last time you changed it, but it couldn't hurt.

thanks again guys for the info. I went to the ford dealer today and picked up some new oil and friction modifier and put it in. Drove around for a while and my vibration seems to be gone now.
