Vent Shade/Visor: Track or Outside Mount?
Looking to get a set of vent shades/visors for my side windows. Do you prefer the tape-free channel mounts, or the ones held on with adhesive tape? Why?

The adhesive style is problematic to remove without damaging paint. My 05 had them when I bought it and I removed them as gently as possible so I did not cause any additional damage. The adhesive will however "etch" the paint over time and it can be seen exactly where it was stuck. Depending on the vehicle color it may or may not show.

I've personally seen 2 or 3 of the in channel ones fall out driving down the road. Those were 10 - 15 years ago so they may have improved them by now but me and several of our friends swore off the in channel ones after the third failure. Never had any problems with the outside ones but I've also never had any reason to remove one either. I personally have the low profile exterior mount ones on my truck and love the look and function.

I have AVS in channel on my truck and love them to death. Not having them stuck to the outside of my truck was a big deal to me. I dont know about other brands but the ones I have included black clips which hold them in the channel in addition to the tape. As for them flying off....Has never happened to me but I would think something taped to the outside of your truck would have a better chance of flying off than something wedged into the window channel. Go in channel.
