Angry Vent/AC Speed

So I'm back with another (apparently regular) maintenance issue, but I want to see if it's something I can fix myself, and what exactly it might be.

I was driving in the truck two nights ago, and my AC/Vent speed selector (you know, the thing that goes 1 through 4) worked fine. I was able to have my AC on low, and it was working perfectly. Yesterday, when I went to turn my AC unit on, I was unable to control anything, except direction of airflow and temperature. Selections 1 through 3 weren't working when I tried to turn them on. We got little to no airflow out of any of the vents. I've seen that it could be that the module is going bad and that's $30. I've also seen people say other things are wrong and it could be a $900 fix. Just curious what everybody things. At least I still have AC

Check for leaking vacuum connector or check valve @ the small space above the battery.
