Vacuum and PCV
Howdy,
I have a 2004 F150 5.4L 3V that seems to be pulling too much vacuum on the valve covers. The vacuum is so much it is near impossible to remove the oil fill cap while the engine is running. I figure it has to do with a PCV valve but I can't seem to find them on the engine. Does anyone know if this year has PCV valves and were are they located?
Thanks,

@thorium90 make sure someone hasn't mixed up vacuum connections on the passenger side of the engine - (Ie: Fuel tank Purge valve hose and Metered Air supply to the passenger side valve cover (for crankcase ventilation). If you have "VACUUM" in the crankcase, the passenger side V/C must be connected to the Fuel Tank Purge Valve connection (which is full manifold vacuum).
The 5.4L does not have a "PCV" valve per se. By design, filtered air (already 'metered' thru the MAF sensor) is drawn from top of the TB into passenger side valve cover - through the crankcase, out of the Driver's side valve cover and into intake manifold via a tube (heated below 35º to prevent moisture freezing up). The Driver's V/C only has a oil vapor filter screen in it. Crankcase, V/C's, Front Cover, Oil pan & oil filler cap form a sealed system that normal intake air should flow through.
