New to the forum so hey y'all. I've used the search feature, so don't bring the hammer down on me. I've recently bought a '07 f150 xlt ext cab. I'm adding a 2.5 hell bent steel leveling kit and a flowmaster dual exhaust as well as 33" tires on stock rims. I'm wondering what kind of oils everyone is using in their differentials, trannys, etc. Not so much the engine oil as I'll only ever use Mobil 1 with a Puralator filter. Any other small changes you've found work better for you?

Pretty much just royal purple for me. I've got a buddy that does land speed racing and swears by it. Seems to be pretty good from what I've noticed. Using it for engine and differentials. Would have put it in for the trans flush but got a buddy of mine to do it free at the shop where he works. I liked the sound of free a little better

I ****ing hate Royal Purp! That ****ty oil has been nothing but nerve racking headaches for me and I'm switching back to Mobil 1 on my next oil change. OP: only use motorcraft filters by the way there is actually a TSB that informs owners that there can be issues with aftermarket/performance filters. As far as differential fluid is you have a Limited Slip Rear Axle all you need is the motorcraft gear fluid and friction modifier. I wouldn't waste my time with anything else. Use a nice synthetic fluid for your transmission if it has been serviced like it should. However supposedly the torque converter can't be drained in these vehicles so it might just be a waste unless you swap it out several times all at once to wash out the old and put in new.

Something I should be looking out for? What kind of issues have you had? I agree though, motorcraft filters all the way

I have no clue if I have a Limited Slip Rear Axle. It is a 4.6L 4x4, not sure if that helps. I just bought used with 65k miles. Do you have any recommendations on a rear diff aftermarket case or a front diff mag drain?
Thanks for the heads up on the Motorcraft oil filter TSB.

The Cylinder Head Temperature tends to run around 202-204 with royal purp as opposed to Mobil 1 which I haven't seen get higher than 200 in my truck. Also the oil doesn't have very good lubricating properties because I can hear very strange noises I didn't notice with other oils when listening to the engine. Of course this is all just theory and stipulation, but these are things I've gathered and noticed from my experience with that oil. Oh and best of all when I first put it in and started up the truck I got a low oil pressure on it's first startup. I immediately had to shut down the vehicle and started it back up in a bit once everything settled and it didn't come back. However that same message has popped up several times and worries me what's happening to my engine.

Thanks for the info! I'll keep an eye on everything. Haven't had any issues as of yet but I'll definitely keep that in mind if I do see a problem.
