U-Joints
Just curious.......
Anyone else have the replacable u-joints in thier trucks? Mine is Scab w/ the HD towing package. Heard the majority were the staked in ones, or trucks built in differemt plants have the different styles of joints based on who the OEM vendor was for that plant. This may or may not be true. My truck was assembled in Kansas City.
Crawled under my truck the other day to check condition / tightness of joints, out of curiosity and a general check before the snow fall, and saw that the u-joints are OEM good old " 'ol school" replacable joints with the "E" clips on them. What a relief....

I too checked mine the other day when I replaced my rear diff pinion seal. Mine also has HD towing package, was made in Kansas City, and have 3.73 gears and mine are staked. Checked the MOOG catalog and they say they are not available. So I guess if they get too bad I have to buy a new driveshaft?
Call a local drive line shop and ask them if they can work on it. That is their businesses, after all. They fixed one of my joints and balanced the shaft, eliminating all the vibration I was having.
Advance auto parts sells a replacement Ujoint. it comes with a cutter tool, some washers and everything to put replaceable joints in the staked driveshaft. its about 100$ tho cant believe it hasn't come up to be a sticky.
