The replacement did work for my truck. Not as easy as I would have thought them to be but hey, I love this truck. The part cost me $113 from my local dealership. It was $112 at carquest but for a dollar the dealer is good for me. The kit does come with the cutter to remove the old joint. Good luck and be glad you don't have to replace the d.s. :-)

I had the same type problem with my 04 F150 with 128K miles. I learned on this forum that it is a common problem the yoke/spline needs grease that joins our two piece drive shaft. I disconnected my drive shaft from the rearend, separated the drive shaft at the rubber boot, greased up the splines, reassembled with heavy duty zip ties holding the boot on, problem solved(no more clunking). Checked my U joints while I was at it and they seemed fine. Hope this helps someone else.

P.S. Make sure you mark the drive shaft before you separate it because it is a balanced unit and needs to go back together exactly the way it came apart.
