Default Tuning

Just sent my SCT Livewire in to get unlocked and reprogrammed for my '04 Lariat supercrew (used it for my mustang last).

I had a custom tune for my mustang from American Muscle. It was a performance tune using 93 octane fuel. The only mod I had was a CAI. I actually gained about 3mpg for the mustang, and increased performance.

Would this work for my stock f-150? Should I go from 87 to 93 octane on a 100k mile engine? I'll probably get a custom tune from VMP if you guys have some good feedback for my situation.

Edit: I can also get non-ethanol 93 octane, which is a plus for going to 93.

No worries with going to 93 as long as you're tuned for it. I'd say get a 87 and a 93 performance tune. The 93 tune will be a little more powerful than the lower, but the mileage gains won't be a great as the mustang. Talk to Justin at VMP, Mike at Troyer, and Mike at 5star for the top SCT tuners.
