Default tuner question

I have an 08 f150 with a magnaflow dual exhaust and I also want to add a k&n cai. I have been reading through numerous posts and it seems like a lot of people are saying that if you put a cai on you need a tuner. Is that right? I have an extended warranty on my truck: 7 years/150 000km. If a tuner is necessary will that void my warrenty or are there ways around this.

Any recommendations for this situation?

Thanks for any feedback.

It won't void your warranty unless it causes something to go wrong.
CAI cause a lean condition on the 04-05 F150s
CAI by themselves don't' add any power, but do make more noise
Tuners can use the extra air from a CAI to make more power.

Get the Tuner first.

Great advice cowboy!

One last clarification...In order to take full advantage of the intake, the programmer should have custom tunes. This somewhat limits you to Gryphon and SCT tuned by Power Hungry Performance, VMP Tuning, Troyer Performance, or 5 Star Tuning.

Diablo may have a canned unit that has tunes for your intake - just depends.

I highly recommend PHP or VMP.
