Default tuner install help

About to do my first tune, my sct sf3 should be here tomorrow. I found a install guide online. It said the tuner uses a lot of battery power, and that you should pull your fan fuse and anything that can draw power. Is this necessary? Should I have some jumper cables ready to hook up to make sure my battery doesn't die mid tune? I'm definitely a rookie when it comes to this as I've never done it. Any advice or tips?

Just make sure you have a good battery that is fully charged to start. Don't make a 1 mile trip then try to reflash the PCM. Drops in voltage while flashing can corrupt the PCM. While tuning don't have the radio, blower fan, or interior lights on that would draw excess power. No need to pull the fuse, just don't have it on.

Yep turn everything off and mine instructed me to put the parking brake on. You will be fine, depending on what parameters if any you are changing should only take 5-10 minutes max.

My battery is pretty new, couple months max, but I don't drive the truck everyday. Sat I was dippin my badges ran music full volume for an hour or so and it was slow to crank. Makes me a little nervous. I'm planning to just load the canned 87 tune

I wouldn't worry about it. I've literally loaded dozens of cars with SCT tunes and never had one die mid tune upload. It only takes about 3-5 mins to upload and draws just as much power as your radio left on with the engine off.
