I've got a 04 reg cab fx4 with the 5.4 and has 89,Xxx miles on it. The truck has zero mechanical issues and has been a real workhorse for me. I did buy it used a little less than two years ago and it only had about 58,000 miles on it. It appears that it lived a very easy life before I got it...looked like a hitch had never even been put in the receiver. It did come with aftermarket dual exhausts and with a leveling kit. I put a brush guard and some 33" bfg ats on the oem 18's....no other mods.

My question to you all is if you think that by adding a tuner that it would increase the chances of mechanical issues. My only reason for wanting a tune would be to make driving my truck a little more badass. Also...I have already done the sparkplug change if that makes any difference. Ive used the search function and know there are a lot of options...any input would be appreciated.

No, adding a quality tuner won't cause any issues. Just avoid $79.99 eBay brand tuners. Any decent quality tuner will run you $300 on up new. Let me know any questions, glad to help! You can expect 22 horses to the wheels and 20 feet of torque using a SCT programmer.

I stuck a sct from franchi on mine with over 100k on the odom and i never had a problem but be prepared to clean the tb if you havent or you may get the check engine light and low rpm....just letting you know incase you do get one you dont put it on and then think something is wrong with your truck...you wont find a better price or quicker shipping than franchi so id say go for it.

look at the edge too, i love it
i got mine from autoanything...it was like $320 with the pod and free shipping, until they found out i was north of the boarder then i had to pay for shipping and then duty and taxes at the boarder so all in i was @$440
but i don't regret it and it you are in the states you won't have the extra expense

Thanks for the feedback. Really leaning towards the SCT ITSX....when I do I'll be giving Franchi a call. Thanks again.
