i was told by a shop thats gonna be putting my 8 in lift on that its gonna cost 3000-4000 dollars to regear my truck.... how the hell??? is that true?

Yeah that seems just a TAD expensive... And by tad, I mean a LOT!
Redoing gears isn't cheap but nor is it that expensive!
Do you have 4x4? If that's the case, that doubles the price. But even so....

yeah its a 2004 fx4 supercab 5.4lv8 hopefully it wont cost 4 grand.. lol that would suck

Call around, it shouldn't be nearly that much. I'd guesstimate MAYBE $1,000. But that's a rough guesstimate. Ask em for a breakdown on that $4k. Granted they have to do it twice but it shouldn't take ten hours per differential either!
