It seems to be doing this when the air temp increases at mid day. This morning and last evening in cool air, no issues.

Yep. The magical fix. I did it on my truck as a routine pm a year or two ago. This is my wife's and haven't gotten to it yet. Just so happened I had it to get it inspected that day and I got the pleasure of the failure. (I'll never hear the end of it) anyway it was my first instinct just didn't want to be throwing a part at it if it wasn't needed.... and wow was it ever needed. The backing nearly crumbled in my hand as I pulled it from the cross member haha.

Yeah mine did that too in the middle of a rain storm after I had to get it towed 20 minutes back to my house lol
