There are known issues with 3rd party alts on some of these trucks. Buy a Ford remanufactured and get back to life or take to a dealer.
The one in it now is a mototrcraft. I don't know the age of it though
Okay I'll just bite the bullet and get an alternator.
I think youve tried/tested every other reasonable possibilty and that suck. Its something we all have to do more than once in our lifetime usually. Let us know if that straightens it up.
Not sure on the 12.8. My 2008 runs at 14.4. I have the tow package and if I'm not mistaken if you don't have the tow package it may run at different charging strategies.
Update- put the new alternator on and everything is good!

Also I have an 06 with the tow package (brake controller, etc) and my alternator has HD on the back. Is this the HD 130amp alternator I hear people talking about that they saw was listed on the sticker and come to find out they just got a regular 110amp?
