Default Transmissions

If I read correctly, the 4R70E and the 4R75E are the same transmissions except for the electronics inside. Can anyone confirm this? I have the "Q" code 75. The reason I ask is that I am trying to find a pan with the drain plug in it. All I seem to find are the 70's. And what is the difference between the 70E and the 70W? I couldn't imagine that they would have different shaped pans for these model years.
Also, should there be a friction modifier in with the trans fluid? or just in the rear end and front diff? Soon I will also be trying to find a rear cover with a plug.

The XMSN pans are the same.

F8UZ-7A194-AA is the Ford part for the pan with the drain plug. Fits both XSMNS. Shame on Ford for not putting them on at the factory.

Friction modifier is only for limited slip differentals (not the XMSN). ...and that only applies to the rear differential in the '04-'08 models.

You can get a drain plug kit from most aftermarket parts places for about $5-7. I found this out after paying the FMC price.

I received my new pan in the mail the other day. After a long weekend of deer hunting up and down the mountains, I say it is now time to change it along with the fluid.

Following along the same lines, are the filters for these 2 transmissions the same? I will have to go to O'Reillys and find the right one. Hopefully they will have a new rubber gasket also as this is the 3rd time the pan has been off. How many quarts can I expect to lose on just a pan drop?

The pan gasket should be reusable... As far as fluid loss, should be 6 to 7 quarts
