To make a long story short I lost 3rd and 4th gear at 225k. I had my local ford dealer replace the transmission with a rebuilt transmission with 100k mile warranty. Everything seemed to be good for about the first 500 miles then it developed this problem of shifting hard from 1 -2 and 2 - 3. It shifts into 4th and OD just fine. I have read on several other forums that this is just the transmission breaking in and everything is fine, but something doesn't seem right and it's just not what I'm used too. I currently have about 4000 miles on the transmission. Any ideas?

Take it back to the dealer and have the tech or service advisor go for a test ride with you. If something is wrong, it should still be covered under a warrantee?

I had the same issue and fee weeks later tranny cracked in half
