Default transmission problem

so i know a lot of people out there have been having all sorts of different problems out of their transmissions well i have a 04 f150 fx4with 81000 miles on it and yesterday on the way to my new house I stopped at a stop sign and it took off fine but when it shifted to second round 20 mph there was nothing but a grinding/whining noise but not like in a manual shift more like the gears where just spinning but barely touching and i have no idea what to do with this new house and me working construction nearly 100 miles away i'm screwed if its something other than the tranny cause if my warranty doesn't cover it i cant afford that s**t. any ideas other than the tranny cause i'm drawing a blank

It's impossible to diagnose a possible transmission problem such as yours, even if we were there and doing a test drive.

Sounds like you have a warranty; take it to a qualified mechanic and have it diagnosed properly.

Good luck. Hope it all works out for the best.
