Default Transmission problem...

I have a 2005 F150 FX4 4x4, 5.4L.
Recently I noticed that if I have the gear shifter in 2nd gear the truck hardly pulls. It feels like it is slipping.

If I put it in drive it takes off no problems.

It is like it is slipping when I have the shifter in 2nd.

What should I do first? I plan on dropping the pan and changing the filter this weekend. What else should I do while I am at it to try and diagnose the problem?

Thanks
Jason

I have the same truck, there is nothing wrong with your trans. I had my trans flushed and purged still has low acceleration in 2nd gear which is normal. I have a crown vic which does exact same thing.

When you put it in "2", it takes off in 2nd gear. That is for better traction when starting out on a slippery surface.
