Transmission Issue/Help
I have a 2006 F-150 4x4 Lariat w/ 42k miles and I have a problem that I am hoping someone can help me with. A few weeks ago I started hearing a slight whine coming from what I thought was the rear end. I had a pretty knowledgable friend crawl under the truck and look at it with me and we couldnt find anything that looked wrong. I only drive maybe 10 miles a day and never really over about 35 MPH. I countinued to drive it back and forth to work for the next week or so and the sound got louder. Anyway yesterday I took it to a shop and had a guy ride with me. He told me he was a Master Tech or whatever at a Ford dealership for over a decade. After driving a minute he told me it sounded like the Thrust beaaring in my Transmission was bad. He said it happens but it isnt that common. My drive train warranty was for 5 yrs or 60k miles. I am at 42K miles as I stated earlier and 5 yrs and about 40 days. I called Ford Customer Service and they sorry about that. Take it to the dealership. So I did and they said, sorry about that. Not much we can or will do to assist you with this financially. The shop I took it to initially told me it was about a 14 hr job and would cost me roughly $2000.00. WTF! Are you telling me my $45,000.00 truck is only good for 42000miles. I am really disappointed right now. Anyone have a suggestion. I have been stuck once in this truck and it has really been pampered. I really had more faith in Ford than this.... Thanks in advanse for any advice ....
No...it was good for 5 years ... they are no responsible after the 5 years. Just bad luck it happen after your warranty expired. For $2000 you can get your whole tranny re-built...don't do it at Ford.
