Default Transmission help needed

I guess first, how can I identify what model transmission I have. I've been told it's a R75W, but I want to put eyes on it to make sure.

Has anyone come across good step by step transmission rebuilt instructions? I understand it's not a job a novice should tackle but I have no choice.

Thanks

Do you know why its a job that shouldnt be tackled by a novice?

Maybe backpedal a little and tell us how you came to the conclusion you needed a rebuild.

Fwiw i wouldnt do it myself and ive rebuilt a couple back in high school.

I came to the idea that its not a job for a novice after reading and watching several reviews and videos of people with experience saying that its not a job for a novice. I'm a Novice so I don't know from experience.

Back info: Noticed the transmission had a leak for over a year. It got progressively worse and I finally got under the truck and figured it was leaking from the pan. I changed the pan gasket and it still leaked. I figured I didn't put the new gasket on correctly so I replaced the filter and gasket, this time following the recommended bolt pattern and torque amount. Still leaked, I tried several different leak stop products and finally just sealed the pan from the outside with a rubberized compound. Still leaked, but now it looked like it was leaking from the bell housing area. I started looking into replacing the torque converter, because it was starting to shift poorly. I never got to replacing it because it quick became un-drivable The engine would race, and then stall. I would wait 15minutes and it ran fine. This lasted for a few days and then I got into it and it wouldn't engage any gears, not even reverse. It then sat for a few weeks and one day I noticed a huge puddle formed underneath it. It looked like all the fluid leaked out over night. My online research took me to the conclusion that my transmission has failed. I hope I'm wrong but it doesn't seem good.

Any thoughts?

Low fluid will cause a no shift condition. My 01 had a small leak in the cooling line the day after i replaced the radiator. I just had to stop at a store and put in half a quart of fluid to top it off. I dont trust the stop leak stuff. Just never heard of it actually working. Did OD light flash? Did fluid smell burned or look brown?

Dig around here and google (other Ford forums out there) before you do this. Theres a ton of specialty tools and manuals youd need to rebuild the tranny.
