Transmission Flush
Guys,
Been using the search feature and reading all kinds of mixed responses on the subject of transmission flushes. Here is my situation:
2007 F150 SCREW 4X4 with 52,000 miles. I bought it with 38,000 already on it. I have a Premium Care ESP till 100,000 miles. Ford manual says tranny fluid change at 100,000 miles, but dealership said it should be flushed every 30,000 miles. I pointed out the direction in the owners manual and the tech just said that "we just don't recommend waiting that long". I know these guys are trying to sell me anything they can, but I want to take care of this truck. It has never been flushed (to my knowledge) and I don't want to introduce any problems by doing it now). I don't tow anything and I don't drive harshly. It shifts perfectly fine now.
Question: Should I let Ford flush the tranny or wait until Ford recommendation per owners manual service schedule? If I let them do it, what is the going rate for the service? I think they quoted me around $225....
Thanks in advance for your advice!
Mark

Changing the fluid out is a good thing. Drop the pan and I'm sure you'll be surprised just how much ferrous material is on the magnet. Get all the break in wear metals and contaminates out as soon as possible. The techs aren't trying to sell you anything (well they are but have good cause), they're just showing proper maintenance practices. You could save yourself some money and do it yourself as it is a fairly simple procedure. Drop the pan and install a new filter and clean the pan, then refill and push the old fluid out of the cooler line.
The "bad" times you hear to do a flush/fluid exchange is when other solvents are used or is a neglected transmission.

In one week I am going to do a fluid change on my sons 08... Here is the procedure I am going to use... I don't like the so called flush machines... I have heard horror stories about the after effects...
