Default Transfer case issue

Today I picked up a load of base rock in my 2004 5.4 4WD Super Cab and hauled it about 2 miles to my house. After driving up the hill it switched into 4WD low without me touching the switch. I unloaded it and then drove it around and it was stuck in 4 high even though it said 4 low. It seemed like something was slipping and it shifted hard.

So then I parked it for a while and then started it again and while not moving I put it in and out of drive a few times and then toggled the switch a few times and the light went off. Took it for a drive and everything seemed normal...

Any ideas what may be going on?

I can tell you one thing.. it did not go into 4low while you were moving.. maybe 4high.. I would start by replacing your IWE solenoid after you check out your SOTF switch

Interestingly enough, yesterday it threw out a P705 code which is a Transmission range sensor malfunction. Drives fine, I cleared the code and will see if it comes back.

Coincidence?
