Transfer Case fluid
XL-12 Motorcraft fluid was replaced.
Is the Valvoline spec going to be the same as pouring in the old old version of t-case oil?
Can't you just order LV from the internet just the same as you have ordered Valvoline?
I think you said your parts counter didn't have LV in stock?

You’d use the wrong fluid, just because some guy at dealer hands it to you ???
LV is not V. Fordtechmakeuloco says that using V will make your transfer case “go boom”. I already provided the link to the video below.
Additionally it says right on the back of bottles that V is not to be used in transfer cases.
Go ahead and use what you want, but the info you provided and recommended to the OP is not accurate

I retract my statement to the OP don't use just whatever someone hands you, do feel free to research and use your head to do whatever feels appropriate though.
I will say I generally stick to the recommended specs, but when ford changes their recommendations every few years and sometimes contradicts themselves I take their specs with a grain of salt.
For at least 3 years now we've been hearing that Mercon V in a T-case will cause disruption of the space/time continuum. Does anybody know the actual "Why?" behind this? I'd love to know the reason behind this, and I don't doubt there is one, but I've yet to find a soul who knows it.
was just researching fluid for manually tranny in a different truck and came across a similar back and forth discussion Thant included Mercon v vs Mercon. It reminded me of your post. Here is snip from other discussion:

actually there is a big difference. the mercon V does not have the anti wear additives needed for yellow metals
