Default Trans service: which comes first?

Trans flush and new filter.
Do you flush first or do you do the filter first?

If you didnt know, those elements are part of two different services.

I wanted to get my filter changed when I got my flush, but the dealer was going to charge me for both a flush and a filter change (which includes dropping the pan). So, I would imagine that you would drop the pan first, releasing a lot of the fluid. Change the filter, then do the flush.

A pan drop only nets about 5 to 6 quarts....there's 13.9 in the automatic transmission used in our trucks.
