Default Trans problem

I seem to not have 1st gear and O/D on my 06 FX4.

I got stuck in some snow(drift covered road, 1.5' drifts) Sunday night and tried a couple times to get out myself. I didnt try hard to get out, didnt want to break anything. I called up a friend and he came out, but he couldnt get me out either. A couple phone calls and 2 more friends come out, we hook up a tandem pull. Still couldnt get me free. We said screw it after 3 hrs and headed home.

Went back in the morning with a tractor and pulled my truck out. Drove in reverse until I could turn around. I got turned around and drove for about a mile before the TRANS FAULT came up where the odometer is, O/D off flashing. I pulled over and shut the truck off, started it back up and there was no warning messages or lights on. Start driving again, noticed acceleration sucked, 2k rpm and barely moving. After I got to 20km/h it started to accelerate like normal.

I pulled onto the highway and was going about 60km/h, but I was revving at 1800rpm(normal is 1200). Drove 5 miles to my mechanic to ask him some questions, he was too busy to help me so I went home. I tried putting the trans in 1, but the truck would not move. Put it in 2 and it would move slow, great 1st is gone.

Now my question is, do you think the trans is toast or could I have gotten moisture in a electrical connector? I never heard any bang or weird sounds when getting towed out, so I wasnt even expecting my trans to be wounded.

I'd have to say these questions/issues are better left to a transmission expert. I doubt you'll get any easy fixes or positive answers here that I would want to run with.

The OD light flashing means the computer has seen a problem and set a code and even though it went off when you restarted the truck it is still in failure mode, the fact that it won't move in manual low makes me think that you've got more than just an electrical problem. Get it to a reputable tranny man (ASE certified) and let them check it for you. Hopefully you'll get lucky and not have to have it rebuilt.
