Default Tranny using fluid?

Is it possible for the tranny fluid to be low without having a leak?

If you have a 4x4 yes. Mine had no visible leaks and the seal between tranny and transfer case was leaking.

No, unless it wasnt filled correctly previously. Trans fluid doesnt burn away like oil can. Temperature has a lot to do with the fluid level. Make sure the vehicle is up to operating temperature, in park, and on a level surface before checking.
