Default Tranny Issues

So I'm drving to the beach with the family and my truck seems to have a surge in RPM's. Only did it once and I didn't think about it again. On the way home it did it lots. I would be idling at 2000 RPM's or so and driving about 110 -120kph. The RPM's would surge up to 2500 and back down and then do it again and again. What I did notice is if I took it out of overdrive it didn't do it. Once I got to the city and drove 50kph and held the gas down to keep the speed it would seem like it would up shift and then surge. It was like I had a standard and should be in 2nd but put it in 5th gear. But if I got on it the truck would shift and go fast. Also I had a few hard hard shifts at low speed after turning the corner. I think my overdrive is the issue for sure but there has to be other things wrong as well. Anyway I have it booked to take in Tuesday morning for warranty. I have 82,000km on it and I'm good till 120,000km for power train. I'll get rental and they can fix or replace as needed. Anyone else experience this before?

There have been transmission threads reported here with overdrive. Pull the transmission dipstick and check fluid level, as well as smell the fluid. Smell burnt?
