I have F150 5.4 crew cab it had no acceleration at all,and seemed to shift when ever it wanted to had a mind of its own.I took it in for the transmission clunking between 1st and 3rd and having no power. I drove a truck same year and engine and it was night and day the power was great so i used his truck as a measuring stick.Ford did a transmission reprogram on it and upgrade on the computer. I was so happy when i got it back finally it had power and shifted great clunk was gone,my question is did they upgrade the main computer or is there one for the tranny and one for all the rest. And they told me to teach my transmission how i drive for three hundred miles that it learns my driving habits,so should i be easy on it or just drive it how i do normally?

I'm having the same issue with my 06 crew. Just kinda figured that's how the truck is cuz my bros 06 does the same thing. I've read everyone pros and cons. Would you guys recommend it? It's is annoying that it takes so long to find the gear especially when I'm merging into morning traffic. Thanks for the update

hmmm I'm glad this thread got brought back to life. When I got my truck, it would just take off like mad the second I hit the throttle. The chicks that drive my truck when I have had a few too many couldn't believe how powerful it was off the line haha. But now, it seems to have lost that. Its quite a dud in my eyes. Maybe I need to do this reprogram. Seems kinda weird that a reprogram is needed but I guess I am old school and believe that everything should be mechanical haha. PS, I have kept up on all the maintenance and the other updates so that is not why I am having this issue (MAF, Throttle body, fuel filter, diffs, tranny oil, FPDM, etc.). Maybe I am just used to it so it doesn't have the flickability that it used to when I first got it?

I have always believed that it doesn't matter how much power you got into the hood... It how you get the power down to the tires. I think people overlook trannys and diffs because they think they need 450 HP to be faster. I think trannys are the weak link because they often get neglected.

Went to the dealer this week and had the tsb update preformed on my truck. Glad I did. They first said they couldn't find anything. Then I presented the tsb. Then I was told that my truck didn't show the tsb on it. He hooked up his computer and three tsb pulled up. Two for the tranny and one for a no start condition. Glad I got them updated. Tranny doesn't bog down on 4-3 shifts and the shifts seem quicker as well when shifting. Seems a lot smoother too.

Thanks for bringing this back to life. I haven't heard about this before. I'll have to bring it in and get it flashed or updated. I'm not happy with the acceleration on mine. I bet it takes 11 seconds to 60.
