I have a 2008 f-150 xlt supercrew 4x4. Pretty much stock other then new tires duratrek 275/65/18. I also have a edge performance tuner set on tow mode (level 2). What do you think my max tow weight capacity is?
from my understanding putting the "towing" tune on doesn't give you more power to tow anything (i have a superchip). It just changes shifting points to help the truck handle the weight more effectively and help your tranny out. Your max tow is still going to be the same regardless whether you have a tuner or not. Unless you added a leaf or anything else which you obv havent I would just look in the owners manual. 8500lbs,9500 i cant remember which it is?
Your owners manual has the max tow capacity listed. Not trying to sound like a dick.
The rims size, gears, transmission, vehicle size( std, extended, or crew cab), 4x4 or 2wd all play a factor. It is broken down in the back section of the manual by what I just listed or very close. What some people don't think about when they go on trips is the weight of the gear and all the other stuff they throw in the bed. Most just think of the camper and trailer or whatever they are pulling. It all adds up.
