Default TOW Package?? Towing Capability?

Hi all,

I drive a 5.4L 2005 SCREW 4x4 XLT. The truck came with a factory 4pin pug at the rear but no factory hitch. It appears to have a Trailer-brake port under the stearing column, and a mini trany rad infront of the main RAD. I am assuming that I have a tow package??

Thoughts??

However the door spec decal shows a 19 for the trans gear ratio which would mean 3.55.

Did they make tow packages with a 3.55 gear ratio?

I am looking at purchasing a TT with a dry wt of 6200Lbs, I am presently running 315/70/17 BFG AllTerrain tires. (Leveling kit)

The book says with 3.55 gear ratio on 17" tires I'm good for 8200Lb towing capacity.

I also have an Edge Programer, K&N CAI and cat back Magnaflow SI/DO exhaust.

How much will the larger tires lower my towing capacity? Do you think I can tow around 7000Lbs wet wt?

Thanks for the help.....

Jamie

as far as your tire size, youll be able to tow that but its going to be lacking a bit on power to pull stuff compared to stock tire size that ford pragrammed the tranny to shift with and geared the axle for. I tow a 18' dove tail and my jeep which is not light and i havent put bigger wheels and tires on because i dont want to lose towing power.

Did they reprogram for speedometer calculation and tranny shift points?
