I bought my 2006 F150 XLT used with reg power mirrors. No heat or turn. Everything I read said you need to move a ground pin if that was the case for the 04-06. Well I put my tow mirrors with signal and heat on today and they were plug and play. Turn and power work. I read if you're truck didn't come with heated mirrors that to make them work you need a dash control and fuse box. My question is, is it possible mine has the necessary fuse box since it seems as though it was pre-wired? How can you tell what fuse box is necessary? Thanks.

 

I'm also working on getting my heated portion working, if you didn't have heated mirrors previously, you probably won't have the proper junction box unless you currently have heated back glass then you may. The cost of doing it properly is ridiculous I priced out just the climate control panel that has the heated mirror button it was $450 and that's with my employee pricing. So I'm just by-passing the junction box and relays and wiring up the heated mirror portion to a small toggle switch.

 

Have you finished it yet? I would really appreciate a write up of sorts and I bet a lot of other guys would as well. I do not have the rear glass defrost now. It isn't a huge deal to me to have heated mirrors or not but if I can take a day and make them work I will do it. Thanks.

 

I haven't started yet, but what I'm planning is since I'm almost positive that I have the wiring in the mirror plug for the heated portion I'm gonna run some wire and tap into those wires, tap
In to an ignition source for power so when the truck is of the mirrors are off in case I forget them on. I'm going to wire ire in a fuse holder and use a 10A fuse, and probably use either 12 or 18 gauge wire. My switch placement is going to be right beside the cigarette lighter. These are the switches I'm using.

 

I have looked into wiring heated mirrors up to my truck, they're manual everything currently.

I was going to just tap into the cigarette lighter wire that's always hot. then put a switch in the line somewhere and you're golden.

 

I have an 07 mark Lt. My heated mirrors come on when the auto is set to defrost.

 

I do not have the rear defrost on this truck. But I had been thinking about going the same route. Find a power source for when the doors are on, maybe by the park brake release, then run to a switch by the headlight switch. Then through the door to the mirror with an inline fuse somewhere along that wire. What wire would you have to tap into at the mirrors to make the heat work?
