Default torque coverter ...Help Please...

I have just replaced Transmission in my 04 Lariat (4r75w) . Now that i have it all bolted up and transfercase in , I can't get flywheel to turn to put last 2 converter nuts on . I have been told that i may have converter studs in wrong holes . The fly wheel is in same position as when i removed the bad transmission .When i put the other transmission in all i did was turn converter to line up the studs and it seems like top studs are digging into the tin shield behind flywheel .. any help appreciated before i take everything back out .

There is a flywheel wrench ith will turn/ hold the flexplate where you need it to access the studs. Did you reuse the same tq converter

Used converter that came with the replacement transmission . I have 2 nuts on the converter studs , tried turning crank with ratchet and still cant turn it . i can feel the one stud up in the starter housing ... fells like its hitting the shield . i guess when i get home this evening i will have to measure each of the converters studs to see if one is different.

They should all be the same legenth. Get one of those flywheel wrenches, they bite on the teeth of the starter ring.

sounds to me that you dont have the convertor in all the way onto the shaft. you have to rotate convertor and wiggle at the same time to get the splines lined up to drive the pump on the tranny. most convertors make a clicking sound as the splines line up. once it is all the way on the and you install there should be clearance to rotate convertor to line up with flex plate.

That was my issue . Must have slid forward on the install. Transmission is in and running great . Thanks for both of your help.
