Default tonneau covers

For those of you who have soft covers, how long do they usually withstand the elements (sun, snow, ice, etc)? Any brands people would recommend or warn against?

I had an Extang on my 2000 Dodge Dakota from early 2001 until I traded the truck in October 2008. It was still in fine shape with no holes or cracks. It was a snap on type and all snaps were still fine. I bought an Extang Trifecta for my '08 F150.

DO NOT use silicone based "conditioners" (i.e. Armorall). I only used Aero 303 once or twice in the 8.5 years I had the cover. Just for info I live in western Pennsylvania so I see reasonably sunny summers and have snow and ice in the winter. I am sure, however, that intense sun like in AZ or something would cause it to last for a lot less time.
