Default tire siping

I have procomp xtreme a/t's. my tire performance is not great on snow and ice and I noticed that snow tires are severly siped. has anyone done this to thier vehicle? is this something worth doing/ i live in so. cal. where we don't get much rain or snow. i like to go to the mountains and snowboard in the winter but i dont think that warrants a set of snow tires. help!!!

Do you have a 4wd truck? With A/Ts I can't imagine you having much issue with snow. I rolled through 6" or so on H/Ls.

Sand bags also help out a lot, or maybe a rail road tie if you have one you can get for free.

Siping is up in the air for me, I have never done it to a street vehicle but I have heard good and bad.

I've had good luck getting tires siped in the past.......

My biggest problem is......... It's getting really hard to find someone who still has the equipment to do it correctly....

Snow tires make a huge difference. They are a different rubber compound than the A/Ts and don't last as long but if you live where there is a lot of snow I would recommend getting snows. I have snows on my 04 and its like a different animal compared to my 06 without them. Of course I only run them in the winter and then Terra Grapplers in the summer.

Yes, I have a 4x4. Also I have a camper shell on it so I think as far as weight goes in the...bed I'm good. My problem seems to be with fishtailing on turns. Maybe I am to top heavy over the bed. Usually fresh snow is not an issue but the next day when there is a sheet of ice beneath the snow I start slipping.
