One of the biggest reasons to lift your truck for offroading is to allow for bigger tires to increase your ground clearance under your axles, which bodylifts do. The benefit of a suspension lift is it gives you more frame ground clearance, and, depending on the kit, may give you more suspension travel (leveling kits won't do this). Bodylifts also keep your center of gravity lower than an equal suspension lift. Of course, the cons to bodylifts are the ugly exposed frame, and the PITA install.

I have 17" wheels on my 2wd. Im going to put a 2.5" leveling kit on. What size tire is a 33"? 265/??/17?

You want a 265? That's a little on the skinny side at 10.4", but you'd need to find a 265/75R17 to get to a 33".

How wide of a tire should I go with for the stock 17" wheel?

You can go up to a 12.50 without (or with little) rubbing. I think a 285 (11.2") or 295 (11.6") is a good compromise between width for traction, and avoiding any crown from having the 7.5" wheel width.

That really wide. The stock tire I have now is only a 255/65/17.

Really depends on your personal preference. Stock 4wd width is 275.

not true, the backspacing on the stock rims is the same. where you run into to issues is the hieght of a tire. the stock 4wd is 2" higher than the 2wd.
