Default tire chains

just wondering if someone here has any knowledge of tire sizes and tire chains . i bought some tire chains last year to fit tire size 235 75 17 well i am going to colorado elk hunting and am going to get new tires but the original tire size of 235 75 17 there isnt a huge selection and they offer a alternate tire size of 255 70 17 i can get some decscent tires at that size does anybody know if the chains i bought for the original size will owrk on the alternate tire size? any info would be appreciated thanks!

using this calculator. the difference appears to be about 2 tenths of a foot. (30.9 vs. 31.1), That is about 2.5" in diameter. you may get that out of your chains. I suspect finding 255/70/17 chains would be easy.

This does not answer your question....but check your clearance better your up ball joint on your control arm. I ran chains on the hunt year. They rubbed a little. Ending in the replacement of my ***** joints. The chains rubbed right through. I was using a heavy duty chain. Considered a light chain for the front end this year. Let me know if you have any success with your chain set up. Maybe I can get an idea of what to do this year.
