Default Tips to a new owner on headlight/taillights

I recently bought a pearl blue 2007 XLT 5.4 and have begun exploring updating some features. To start, I'm looking at headlight and taillights (probably smoked or something similar) but I can tell from browsing the forums that many of you have great thoughts and tips on how to go about it. What are major pointers you can offer me? Things to avoid, great sites to use, things you learned from bad experiences... I'd appreciate any wisdom I can get!

Don’t get smoked. That just reduces your light output and is pointless. If you want something darker, get headlights that have a clear lens but are black inside.

Anzo sent me some of their new test lights and I like them a lot so far. The projector low beams are much better than the stock reflectors.

I'd suggest a OEM set of Harley Davidson lights. The aftermarket ones tend to leak and have issues. I've had my Harley's for over 5 years and they still look great.

Thanks, part of that is me not quite knowing what I'm talking about. I do love the look of those Anzos though. Is that pretty plug and play?

Ok so I've seen these mentioned a few times and liked the look. Cost is nice too. I've been bouncing around of forums to get a good look at them when installed.

100% plug n play. I was running leds in OEM lights and now halogens in the projectors and the light is much better. They use H1 and H7 for high and low instead of the dual filament H13 the oem assemblies use.

And I also agree, a lot of the aftermarket stuff does end up leaking. Anzo is pretty reputable and I’ve had no condensation issues with mine.

Those are real nice no doubt. Will they work on a 2006?

If you’re talking about the ones I posted, yes. They’ll work on 04-08 trucks. Not sure they’re on market quite yet?

I grabbed these from Amazon. They are really bright and went right through last summer and this winter and no fogging.

Do you know where you got them at? I've been looking at a set on 1a Auto but is there an easy way to tell OEM vs aftermarket if it's not explicitly stated?
